Houseplants are having a moment. Thanks to the popularity of Instagram and Pinterest, more and more people are filling their homes with greenery. Houseplants not only look good, but they also have a number of benefits such as the ones listed in our article about the benefits nature has on humans. They can improve air quality, boost your mood, and even help you focus. With so much to offer, it’s no wonder that houseplants are becoming increasingly popular. Here are some of the most popular houseplants and houseplant trends that are taking over.

1.- Oversized Statement Plants

Succulents in elf-sized pots are adorable, but this year is all about giant plants that make a large botanical impact. The potted palms can get 8 feet tall, the bird of paradise can reach 6 feet tall, and the Ficus Audrey can become a towering indoor tree.

What’s the deal with all the plants? We’ve been experimenting with houseplants for a few years now and have become more confident in our abilities. Large plants may also be a quick method to change the look of your room. Large, arching leaves of a large cactus or bird of paradise may have a significantly greater impression than a group of smaller plants.

2.- Blooming Plants

Secondly, there are flowering plants. We’ve got a lot of tropicals in our house, and we now include blooming plants, which adds a splash of color. Moreover, the fragrance of some flowers (e.g., jasmine) can raise the spirits.

Some houseplants that bloom indoors are anthurium, amaryllis, impatiens, and cyclamen.

3.- Plants with Colorful Leaves

We’re not only going to use flowers to brighten things up. Foliage with a variety of colors and textures will be in demand, as will plants with interesting leaves. This demand for greater color is based on design philosophy.

Adding layers of color and complexity to a space is as simple as using flowers and variegated leaves against a background of greenery.

With the use of the skill of layering, you may create the illusion that a design professional spent their time putting your room’s components together. Plants with colorful or patterned leaves and flowers will give your abode a higher design impact.

4.- Fabulous Ferns

Staghorn Fern Wall Hanger – Live Plant

When it comes to millennial décor, these retro, textural plants are an excellent choice since they are so easy to include. The fondness for ferns will grow this year as we extend our collection to include more exotic kinds, and it’s all about the staghorn fern right now.

Using ferns to decorate your home is easy since you can place them everywhere. Make room for them by placing them on a shelf, hanging them from the ceiling, or placing a row of ferns on a window ledge.

5.- Climbing Plants

You’ve had plants strung from the ceiling with their limbs dangling. It’s time to take your indoor gardening to the next level with vines that grow up a wall, stairway, or bookcase.

Vining Rhaphidophora tetrasperma, which appears like a little Monstera at first sight; and huge Rhaphidophora decursiva, which has leaves up to 40 inches long and 20 inches broad.

6.- Ficuses That Are Not Fiddle-Leaf Figs

Fiddle-leaf figs may remain one of our favorite houseplants for as long as we have them, but they’ve become a bit of a cliché. I think it’s about time you tried some other ficus species.

As an alternative, you may use Ficus Audrey, the relative of fiddle leaves that can grow up to 50 feet tall in an indoor environment. You don’t have the space for a four-story plant?

Ficus triangularis (also known as the “sweetheart tree”) is a smaller, 8-foot-tall Ficus that may be kept trimmed. Ficus triangularis has variegated leaves, so you can offer some color to your indoor greenscape while breaking out of the fiddle-leaf rut.

7.- Monsteras

The tropical houseplant’s leaf, Monstera deliciosa, won’t be going away anytime soon. It’s one of the most popular houseplants, and it will continue to be trendy in the future.

We’re seeing an increase in the number of people who want to experiment with their Monsteras. They’re growing them in water, hanging them from the ceiling, and even making them into topiaries.

8.- Chinese Money Plant

Not only is this fortunate plant thought to bring good fortune, but it’s also really adorable. It’s no wonder this particular plant is all over Instagram this year, given how its round leaves provide texture and liveliness to otherwise drab shelves and windowsills.

9.- Kentia Palm

Kentia Palm – Live Plant

Primrose has been a spike in interest in the Kentia palm (Howea forsteriana) in recent months. The plant store claims that online searches for this plant on its website have increased by 253% this year and that it expects it to be a popular choice in 2022.

A native of the South Pacific, this plant has a laid-back and beachy air about it and may grow to be a stunning focal point in your home or office. It’s also quite simple to maintain; all you have to do is dust the leaves from time to time.

10.- Philodendron Pink Princess

The heart-shaped leaves of this pretty-in-pink plant, which is a man-made hybrid, make it a unique and eye-catching specimen. The Philodendron Pink Princess is one of the most sought-after houseplants.

Chlorophyll deficiency is to blame for the bright pink stripes on their leaves. It’s a genetic mutation that is to blame for the appearance of these pink crescent markings.

Expert Timeless Houseplant Trends Styling Tips

Expert Houseplant Styling Tips

Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, there are always new things to learn when it comes to styling houseplants. Here are a few tips to help you take your plant game to the next level.

When it comes to design, plants can be used in a variety of ways. They can be used to soften and add texture to your house, brighten up a gloomy section of the room, or make a statement.

Pots of different sizes and finishes give an eclectic and casual overall aesthetic, yet a set of identical pots presented at regular intervals on a long side table, for example, would produce a sophisticated and stunning impact.

If you desire a homogeneous, organized interior, use the same pot in different sizes. When creating an eclectic atmosphere, mixing and matching different pots is key. And if you want to add a pop of color, opt for colorful pots or plants with variegated leaves.

No matter what your style is, there’s a plant out there that will fit perfectly into your home. So get creative and have fun experimenting with different ways to style your plants.
