How to Decorate a Slanted Wall in a Bedroom: 15 Ideas

Decorating a Slanted Wall – Introduction Video

I never imagined that my first apartment would have slanted walls, but there I was – moving into a new home with ceilings and walls that weren’t quite straight. At first, I wasn’t sure how to deal with the issue. But after some research and talking to experts, I realized that there are many ways to make my design look great!

You’ll learn that the sky’s the limit when designing a bedroom with slanted walls, no matter your home’s interior design style. The possibilities are endless as to how you can make this type of space work for you and your décor needs.

Whether you’re looking for ways to make the most of the natural light or want to create a cozy and inviting space, there are plenty of ways to decorate walls and make them look stylish and serene.

In this article, you’ll find tips on how to make your bedroom look elegant and stylish. So don’t worry if your ceilings or walls aren’t perfectly levels. With a little bit of creativity, you can turn your design into a haven.

1.- Add personality with wallpaper.

One way to make your bedroom stand out is by adding wallpaper. This is a great way to add some personality to the space and make it your own. There are many different wallpaper patterns and colors to choose from, so you’re sure to find something that fits your style.

2.- Maximize natural light with light-colored walls and window dressings.

You’ll want to maximize natural light because it will make the space seem brighter and more open. To do this, you can paint the walls a light color and add window dressings that allow the light to filter in. Light-colored walls will also make the space appear larger, which will be beneficial in a room with this configuration.

3.- Use a rug to add color and interest.

One way to add color and interest to a bedroom is to use a rug. Rugs are beneficial because they can help define the space and break up the expanse of the slanted wall. In addition, rugs add texture and can help soften the room’s look.

When choosing a rug, it is essential to consider the size of the room and the amount of traffic that the rug will receive. Additionally, you may want to choose a rug with a pattern or design that complements the other decor in the room.

4.- Hang curtains high to make the room feel taller.

When decorating, consider hanging curtains high to make the room feel taller. This will help draw the eye upward and create the illusion of more space, offsetting the slanted wall’s effect. In addition, you’ll want to choose light-colored curtains or sheers further to maximize the amount of natural light in the room.

5.- Use tall furniture to help offset the effect of slanted walls.

One of my favorite ideas is to use tall furniture to help offset these walls. This is beneficial because it helps to create the illusion of more space in the room. This is done because vertical lines in interior design are known to make a space appear larger.

6.-Hang art at eye level to create a focal point.

Not only will it draw the eye up and make the room appear more spacious, but it will also help to balance out the design by focusing your attention on a specific area and not so much on the walls.

You can hang art in many different ways. You can group several pieces together to create a gallery wall or hang a single piece at eye level to create a focal point.

7.- Use accent lighting to highlight your slanted walls.

One fantastic idea is to use accent lighting to highlight the room’s unique shape. By using floor lamps or wall sconces, you can create a warm and inviting space that will be both functional and stylish. Additionally, using enough artificial illumination will also make the room appear larger.

You can also use fairy lights to brighten a room by suspending them from the wall and allowing them to flow and drape by attaching them to the top and bottom of the slant.

It is far less expensive than a skylight and yet provides a means of illumination.

8.- Choose a headboard that makes a statement.

When decorating these types of bedrooms, choosing decor that makes a statement is essential. A bold and tall headboard can be beneficial because it will help to create the illusion of a larger space.

Additionally, the slanted walls will frame the headboard, making it even more of a focal point, which in return will make your bedroom design even better!

9.- Add some interesting wall art behind the bed

Similarly to the last point, you can use wall art to make a statement in your room. By adding some interesting wall art behind the bed, you can create a focal point that will help to make the room appear more spacious.

10.- Creative ways to cover the slanted wall

When decorating a bedroom with this configuration, the biggest decor conundrum is how to decorate these walls. Some people will hang tapestries, add wallpaper, or paint in contrasting colors to decorate the walls. And this actually is a decor key and can be beneficial because, when done correctly, it can make the space an attractive focal point.

11.- Add plants for a touch of nature and freshness.

Plants can provide a touch of nature and freshness, and they can also be beneficial to the air quality in the home. While there are some plants that are toxic to dogs, there are also many pet-friendly houseplants that can be used to decorate your space.

The benefits of decorating with plants include improved air quality, heightened moods, and increased concentration. When decorating your bedroom, consider adding some plants to create a serene and natural space.

12.- Hang mirrors to reflect light and make the room feel larger.

One common decor strategy is to hang mirrors in order to reflect light and make the space feel brighter. This can be especially beneficial in a slanted wall bedroom, as the mirrors can help to expand the space visually.

And who doesn’t love mirrors? They can be used in many ways such as adding a decorative touch to your dresser or used as part of a gallery wall. When it comes to hanging mirrors, be sure to use heavy-duty hardware so that they are securely attached to the wall.

13 . Decorate using geometric shapes and patterns

One way to strike a balance is to use geometric shapes and patterns. Slanted lines are already a feature of the room, so you can play off of that by using shapes that echo the angle of the walls.

For example, you could hang a series of slanted shelves on one wall and fill them with framed photos or art objects. Or, you could create a geometric design on the floor using colorful rugs or tiles.

14.- Add Visual Texture

One way to add visual interest to a room is to install wooden beams or put in wooden struts. This is an excellent method of substantially changing the appearance of the walls and space with less effort. If you have exposed wooden beams in your ceiling, you may want to think about coloring them so that they stand out more.

You may paint it to coordinate with the rest of the room’s decor or to stand out as a striking new focal point. Whatever approach you take, adding visual texture to your bedroom will give it personality and charm.

15.- Peel-and-stick stickers and stencils make incredible decorations.

With peel-and-stick stickers and stencils, you can quickly turn your walls into a work of art. Choose a design that fits your style, whether it’s flying birds, a starry night, or an abstract mural made of stripes, patterns, or dots.

You can even use larger stencils to create elaborate motifs like a tree that climbs the room’s walls and ceiling. Thanks to peel-and-stick stickers and stencils, you are covered.

Conclusion

There you have it! With these simple tips, you can turn your bedroom into a stylish and inviting space. So don’t let sloping walls get in the way of your design dreams – get creative and make them work for you. Thanks for reading!
